This beat is alright. Liked the melody on the strings and piano. Sounds sad but peaceful at the same time or something...
And about what you wrote. I honestly don't think it's a good idea to cut your actual talent just because it's easier to fit vocals in. If you want to make some huge epic hip hop beat then go for it. Trying to fit rap lyrics in there without one overpowering the other is just another challenge. It'll improve your composition/beat making/whatever skills and it's more enjoyable for the listener. The reason why mainstream hip hop and R&B sounds empty and repetitive is because it isn't controlled by people. It's controlled by money. They're just sticking to what sells which is dull empty rap music.
Well that's just my 2 cents. Lovin the beat tho. Keep it up and try not to sacrifice the amount of talent you put in your work.
